A New Residential Development by the Mākena Golf & Beach Club
Ka’eo at Makena started construction in early May (2022). This development will help bring more housing to South Maui, in an effort to ease the current housing crunch. This community will be built by local developers and is designed to be low-impact and low density. Ka’eo will consist of 103 units:
- 30 Multi-Family units (includes 4 workforce housing units)
- 18 Single-Family cottages
- 32 Single-Family custom lots
- 9 TVR units
- 14 Condominiums
- 27,300 SF of commercial property
The first phase of development will start with the northern portion of the project, 21 single-family custom homes. This section of the construction is planned to be completed by late 2023.
Makena Golf and Beach Club engaged with community partners and Maui county in an effort to give respect to the resources and local culture. “We have spent the last eight years working with our neighbors, the kama‘āina of the area, community groups, and government agencies and built relationships to be better stewards of this area,” said Kaʻimi Judd, Vice President of development for Mākena Golf & Beach Club. “We are tasked to create a project that over time regenerates native flora, honors the stories and family legacies of the area, and ensures our impact on the area is measured and well managed.”
